The Third Millennium Foundation's initiatives for unlearning intolerance
in the new millennium operate by inspiring and supporting projects that
help to promote social change throughout the world. The objective of
these projects is to broaden the awareness of others, encourage
cooperation, and embrace differences in order to ultimately increase
tolerance in the world. The Foundation implements innovative initiatives
which target youth in order to connect to our generation of future leaders.
With this in mind, the Third Millennium Foundation sponsors projects which
use arts and culture as a medium for teaching tolerance and human
rights. We have learned that the arts prove to be particularly effective
teaching tools, especially in the hands of children, because they
encourage creative thinking and can transcend the barriers of language
and culture. Therefore, the Foundation emphasizes art in its grant
making and continues to explore creative new avenues for unlearning
intolerance.
