Welcome to the Third Millennium Foundation. The Third Millennium Foundation is a private, not-for-profit foundation located in New York City. Current Initiatives: The Third Millennium Foundation currently pursues its work through the following initiatives:

Human Rights Fellowships
Through a range of fellowship opportunities, the Third Millenium Foundation aims to develop a cadre of young activists from different countries whose understanding of, commitment to, and effectiveness in human rights work have been enhanced through an in-depth exposure to and reflection on a broad range of perspectives, situations and experiences related to human rights work.

Human Rights Summer Institute for High School Students
HRSI is a six-week long summer scholarship program for diverse high school students from all around New York City who come together to participate in an interactive human rights curriculum, workshops led by local and global human rights activists, and a group conceived and executed campaign to advance human rights.

International Center for Tolerance Education: a Do TankTM for Social Entrepreneurs
ICTE is a laboratory for innovative ideas in the field of tolerance education and human rights. The Center, which is located in Brooklyn/NY, facilitates conferences, houses a scholar retreat and incubates leadership. The core program is the International Guest Program, that invites educators and human rights advocates from the Global South to spend up to three months at the Center including housing. The guests are able to attend conferences and meetings, undertake research and follow courses at Columbia University.

Each year, ICTE's International Guest Program welcomes 20-25 peace human rights leaders and peace educators, primarily from the Global South. These activists come for a 2-3 months residency in Brooklyn, working within the ICTE community. The program aims to support each guest's commitment to empowering local communities in the promotion of tolerance, human rights, and respect for diversity and social justice. Individualized work plans are created with Guests that involve networking, professional skills training, opportunities to present their work, and time to reflect on their ongoing efforts.

At this time, the Foundation is not accepting applications but suggests that you download the 2007/2008 International Guest guidelines to learn more about the program. We will open the next application round in winter 2007/2008. Please find a program overview here.

Grantmaking Areas: The Foundation makes grants in the United States and internationally and has four main areas of activity including human rights protection, arts education, school curricula, and anti-bias programs. Learn more about our programs and grantees.

**Please note that at this time, the Foundation is not accepting Letters of Inquiry or soliciting Full Grant Proposals. You may refer to our most current guidelines as a reference only [here]. The Foundation maintains its previous policy to not accept unsolicited funding proposals.**
