Profile:
Farangis Zikriyaeva is a graduate of the the Law Faculty at Khujand State University in Tajikistan. As a law student, she was the national winner of the Jessup Moot Court. Since May 2003, Farangis has worked as a staff attorney with the American Bar Association/Central European and Eurasian Law Initiative (ABA/CEELI) in Khujand, Tajikistan.
Her primary areas of interest are in Legal Education Reform Programs such as Street Law, Legal Clinic Externship, Human Rights Course, Mock Trial, and Jessup Moot Court. She has developed a highly successful "street law project" including a comprehensive curriculum for students and collaboration with officials and school administrators. Further, Farangis developed the first Human Rights Courses in Khujand and was responsible for negotiating with universities to introduce human rights courses in law faculties, as well as to gather and organize teaching materials, course syllabi and teacher's manuals in Russian and Tajik.
Farangis' main goals at ICTE were to improve her knowledge and skills on implementing human rights education reform, to find partners for effective collaboration, and to gain international experience on human rights promotion.
