Biographical
Profile:
Adeeb holds a bachelors degree in education. Since graduating
he has worked with the Sudan Social Development Organization (SUDO).
SUDO is a national non-governmental organization working with rural
communities to promote sustainable development and human rights in
Sudan.
The organization also provides human rights training to internally
displaced persons (IDPs), psychosocial assistance to victims of rape
and other violence and runs a vibrant peace building program targeting
both victims and perpetrators of the violence in Darfur. Adeeb currently
serves as Head of Office in West Darfur. Adeeb has been a champion
in promoting human rights in Sudan from the time he was at university.
Following the gross violations that followed the rebellion in Darfur,
he played a key role in creating awareness of the plight of Darfurians
to the outside world. Due to his human rights activities he was detained
twice and suffered torture whilst in detention. Adeeb's main goal
during his fellowship at SoT was to understand more about tolerance
education and how it could be incorporated into SUDO's human rights
and peace building program.
